Walt attended Henry Street and Muskegon High Schools. The U.S. Army drafted Walt and he served his country for two years. He returned to Muskegon where he met Sandra “Sally” Sandberg. Walt and Sally moved to Milwaukee where Walt attended Layton Art Institute. After graduation, they returned to Michigan where he began work as an artist at Meijer’s corporate headquarters in Grand Rapids. Walt and Sally settled in the Grand Rapids area and started a family; Timothy “Tim” Jazdzyk is their only child, and remains in Grand Rapids. They were also foster parents to nine children. Walt and Sally enjoyed repairing and managing investment properties in Muskegon and Grand Rapids areas. They spent their summers at their cottage near Pere Marquette Park in Muskegon and worked at their farm “J’s” in Fruitport. Walt docked his boat at Harbour Towne and enjoyed boating and fishing in his retirement. Walt’s positive attitude, sense of humor, and hard work ethic were recognized and admired by family and friends. “Wszystko w porzadku” (all is fine) were some of Walt’s final words.
