Walter John Mastee's Obituary
Mr. Walter John Mastee, age 89, rejoined his family on Saturday, April 16, 2016. He was born in Caspian, Michigan on November 18, 1929 to Jacob and Helen (Sohasky) Mastee. Walter was an electrician and had worked at Shaw Box Crane/Dresser Industries for 42 years before his retirement in 1988. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and watching and reading westerns. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Irene and Virginia Mastee; several nieces and nephews and dear friends, Maria and George Beegle. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Leo, Franklin, Albert, Henry, Teddy, John and Joseph; and three sisters, Mary Mastee, Celia Alex and Sophie Yake. The MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, April 21, 2016 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. James VanderLaan presiding. VISITATION will be from 5-7 PM Wednesday at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., 231-759-8565 with the ROSARY prayed at 5 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael Divine Mercy Chapel or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
