Walter D. Michalski's Obituary
Walter D. Michalski, age 81, passed away Monday, July 8, 2019 at Mercy Hospital. He was born January 4, 1938 in Polkton Township, MI to Thomas and Anna (Goresch) Michalski and lived in the area his entire life. On January 10, 1959, he married Rosemary Beauregard in Muskegon. Walt worked 40 years at CWC-Textron and retired in 1999. Walt and Rosemary enjoyed traveling with friends during retirement and wintered in Sebring, FL. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Walt was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather “Grumps” and an all-around caring man to many. SURVIVORS include his loving wife of 60 years, Rosemary Michalski; 2 children, Diane (Gregory L.) LaPres, Thomas Michalski; 3 grandchildren, Bryant LaPres, Kendra (Adam) Boyden, Amanda LaPres; first great-grandchild due January 2020; 3 brothers, Thomas Rasch, Robert (Mary) Kruska, Michael Kruska; and 2 sisters, Ann (Jim) Wirtz and Kathy (Gary) Salacina. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Aloise Michalski, and 3 sisters, Lucille Cheyne, Dorothy Weaver, and Ruth Percy. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, July 12, 2019 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church (2929 McCracken St.) with Rev. Charles D. Hall presiding. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass, 10-11 AM Friday at the church. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Harbor Hospice Foundation or St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church “Completing the Vision” Building Campaign.
