Walton Warren Bassett Jr.'s Obituary
Walton Warren Bassett Jr., age 68 passed away on December 15 surrounded by loving family. He was born in Muskegon on May 22, 1957, to Louise (Czarney) and Walton Bassett and grew up in the Lakeside area of Muskegon. On July 18, 1987, he married Jane Hansen, and they were together for almost 40 years.
Walt was a body man by trade and loved restoring cars, especially vintage cars. He also ran sound for local bands for many years. He loved the live music scene; it was more than a job or a hobby, it was his passion.
Walt was an avid fisherman and spent many days out on his bass boat or in his canoe, telling his family that he’d see them at “dark-thirty”, meaning when he could no longer see his line. He loved his dogs and his birds. All of his dogs were adopted as he believed strongly in animal rescue and adoption.
Survivors include his wife: Jane; daughters: Casey Dunning and Brooke Deyo; sons: Eric Deyo and Josh Robinson; mother: Louise Czarney; sister: Katrina (Kitty) Keck, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father: Walt Bassett; stepfather: Steve Czarney; sister: Christine Bassett; brother-in-law: Danny Keck and his daughter, Jennifer Torrenga.
