Mr. Wayne Robert Brondyke's Obituary
Mr. Wayne Robert Brondyke, age 88, passed away Saturday afternoon, October 5, 2019. Wayne was born July 14, 1931 in Muskegon to Peter and Henrietta (Dykema) Brondyke. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Minah. Wayne married the former Dolores Buris on March 27, 1953, in Muskegon, and she survives him. He had been employed at Howmet for more than 20 years, before retiring in 1993. Earlier in his career, he owned and operated Account Adjustment Services. Wayne was a longtime member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, as well as a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was also a member of Fin and Feather of Mason County and the Naval Mine Research Group. Wayne also helped out the Greater Muskegon Women’s Club with various projects. He loved the outdoors and never missed a deer hunting season. He went out west to hunt elk and his son treated him to a Canadian fishing trip. Wayne loved this grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be missed by Dolores, his wife of 66 years; his children Jay Brondyke and Joel (Carrie) Brondyke; grandchildren, Shannon (Alex) Cater, Katie (Aaron) Eikenberry, and Sarah (Chris) Cole; great-grandchildren, Piper and Tegan Eikenberry and Adriane and Ingrid Cole; sister, Kay Schuitema; brother, Russell Brondyke; and many nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jay and Art Brondyke; and a sister, Delores DeGraft. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11 AM Saturday, October 12, 2019, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1206 Whitehall Rd. with Rev William Uetricht officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service (10-11 AM). Memorial Contributions may be made to First Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Greater Muskegon Women’s Club.
