Wayne J. Charles' Obituary
Wayne J. Charles, age 89, died Saturday morning, February 7, 2015 at Hackley Hospital. He was born September 5, 1925 in Muskegon to John and Marie (Reeths) Charles; and had been a life resident of the Muskegon area. Wayne had been an auto mechanic for 70 years; and had owned and operated Charles Service Center for many years prior to his retirement. He was a WW II Combat Infantryman of the U.S. Army, having served in Northern France, Ardennes Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a member of Crestwood United Methodist Church; an avid reader and enjoyed his family very much. SURVIVORS include his 3 children, Nikki (Dave) Elrod of Portage, MI; Gary (Rosemary) Charles and Lynn (Brad) Jacobs of Muskegon; 5 grandchildren, Jason (Monica) Charles, Tim (Genny Barrett) Elrod, Cody Jacobs, Bo (Katie Edgar) Jacobs and Tyler Charles; 2 great-grandchildren Easton Jacobs and Kenzie Jacobs; 1 brother, Darrel (Jean) Charles of Norton Shores and 1 sister, Carol Hoffman of North Muskegon; the mother of his children, Donna Seastrom of Muskegon; and by his good friend, Loren. Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine and brother, Bruce. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, February 12, 2015, at Crestwood United Methodist Church (1220 Creston St., Muskegon, MI 49442) with Pastor Mary Sweet officiating. VISITATION with Wayne’s family will be one-hour prior to the service.
