Wayne Milford Green passed from this life in the early morning hours of October 8, 2011, at the home of his daughter. The son of Milford J. Green and Lois R. Jewell, Mr. Green was born in Hart, Michigan, on February 7, 1932. As a young man, Wayne raced stock cars on local tracks and rode motorcycles with his lifelong friend, Cecil Garvey. A veteran of the United States Army, he served from 1952-1954 as a signal corpsman stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. Returning to Muskegon upon discharge, he married the late Elnora Abbott on October 15, 1955. Mr. Green worked as a heating technician in the Muskegon area until his retirement in 1989. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Donna (Tom) LeMieux of Spring Lake; his daughter Karen (Steven) Schaub, of Ravenna; his sons, Kenneth Wayne (Karen) Green, of Grand Rapids, and Randall (Cissy) Green of Grand Haven; two stepsons, Ronald Holmes and Richard (Faye) Holmes of Hesperia; sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Mr. Green was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Mark Green, in November of 1959. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, at Throop Funeral Home in Ravenna, with internment at Ravenna Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Tuesday. The family asks that donations be made to Muskegon County Hospice in lieu of flowers.
