Wayne Charles Hascall's Obituary
Wayne Charles Hascall was born on September 7, 1934 and passed away July 29, 2023 at the age of 88. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. Wayne was undeniably a winner, sharing a forty-year marriage with Joyce Hascall. Wayne and Joyce enjoyed a life of family and travel, spending their summers in Michigan and winters in Florida. He served his country as a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. Following his service, he graduated from the University of Iowa and in 1971 founded Hascall Steel Company that today remains a successful family business. He was a mentor to many who will remember him as honest, consistent, witty and a brilliant strategist. It was his sharp mind that allowed him to become a Platinum Life Master Bridge Player. He loved to play bridge and often said that the best of everything he enjoyed in life he got from the people he met playing bridge. As an instrument rated pilot, he flew all over the United States, often with Joyce, to compete in tournaments and served as a volunteer President of the American Contract Bridge Club.
Wayne Hascall is survived by his wife, Joyce Hascall, and his children Dag Hascall (Jennifer), Scott (Dina) and Jeff (Kazue) and Jennifer Breidenstein, his grandchildren, Arielle, Quinn, Aiden, Ava, and Luc Hascall and Maxx, Julia, Elliott, Graham, and Vivian Breidenstein, his sister Donna (Ron) Pauley and brother Jerry (Rose), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents (John & Lucile), his first wife, Kathryn Hascall, and two sons, Karl and Guy, and siblings, Darwin and David.
