Mr. Wayne Pothoff's Obituary
Mr. Wayne Pothoff, age 68, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, March 19, 2014. He was born July 10, 1945 in Cadillac, MI to Lambert and Bessie (Gilbert) Pothoff and after his father passed away, was raised by his step-father, Bob Garvey. Wayne was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era, had worked for West Michigan Steel, and worked as a security guard since 1989 for U.S. Security of Grand Rapids before retiring in 2011. While in the Army he married Shirley Johnson and she preceded him in death in January of 1983. He then married Louise Vanburgel in Muskegon on July 21, 2001 and she survives him along with 3 children, Wayne R. “Rusty” (Bobbi) Pothoff of Muskegon, Heidi (John) Lyell of Missouri, Michael (Patricia) Pothoff of Muskegon; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; and a half-brother, Terry (Kathy) Garvey of Muskegon. A CELEBRATION OF WAYNE’S LIFE will be held 12 Noon Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the West Michigan Worship Center (1430 Hendrick Rd.). VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service.
