Wayne A. Wackernagel's Obituary
Mr. Wayne Allen Wackernagel, 78, entered into eternal life on December 24, 2024, from Muskegon, MI. Wayne was born in Muskegon on September 10, 1946, to Clayton and Pauline (Runyan) Wackernagel, and he was a part of the first graduating class of Mona Shores High School. Wayne retired from Sealed Power after serving as a dedicated employee and loyal coworker for 39 years.
Wayne was a lover of life and was never afraid to try new things. He enjoyed sports, especially University of Michigan Football, Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, and golf. Wayne enjoyed going on car rides, especially taking the back roads to Manistee. Wayne had a big heart for watching deer and enjoyed walks at the beach and camping.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Pauline Wackernagel, and his beloved son, Scott Wackernagel. Wayne leaves to cherish his memory his son, Tod Wackernagel; daughter, Michelle (Todd) Charlesworth; sisters: Barb (Mike) Roys and Sue Lynn; grandsons: Jared, Justin, Joshua, and their mother, Lisa Wackernagel; granddaughter, Brooke; great-grandsons, Rossi and Elias; special companion, Kay Mitchell, and a host of special friends and family.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Wayne from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM, on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at the Lakeside Eagles, 2355 W. Sherman Blvd, Norton Shores, MI, 49441. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Poppen House Residence of Harbor Hospice, 2065 E. Mount Garfield Rd, Muskegon, MI, 49444. Arrangements entrusted to the Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI, 49444.
