Wayne J. Tanis' Obituary
Mr. Wayne J. Tanis, age 85, went to be with his Lord Friday morning, October 8, 2004, at his home. He was born November 17, 1918 in Reeman, MI to Richard & Anna (Drost) Tanis. Wayne had resided in the Muskegon area for most of his life, except for the 13 years he lived in Grand Rapids; and from where he returned, in March of 2004. Wayne was an U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII; a member of Ferrysburg Church and I.B.E.W. where he had been an electrician by trade for over 50 years. Wayne was married to the former Angeline Nederhood and she preceded him in death in 1987. He then married the former Catherine (‘nee Hoebeke) Heeres on December 29, 1990; and she survives him along with 3 children, Judy (Alco) Haga of Ada, MI, Keith (Marti) Tanis of Seal Beach, CA and Marilyn (Mark) Borst of Atlanta, GA; 4 step-children, Charlynne (Harrison) Sikkenga of Norton Shores, Marcia (Louis) Plescher of Roosevelt Park, James (Linda) Heeres of Zeeland and Randall (Deborah) Heeres of Cadillac; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, Angeline, he was preceded in death by 8 siblings. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at Ferrysburg Church (17705 Mohawk Dr., Spring Lake, MI 49456) with his son, the Rev. Dr. Keith Tanis, officiating. Burial will be in Reeman Cemetery. VISITATION will be 6-9:00 PM Monday at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc.,
