Wayne R. "Dick" Sebring's Obituary
Mr. Wayne R. “Dick” Sebring, age 88, died Friday evening, March 4, 2011, at Brookhaven Medical Care Facility. He was born September 13, 1922 in Muskegon to Eben Rex & Ada (Weaver) Sebring; and had resided in the Muskegon area most of his life. “Dick” was a US Army veteran of WWII; and had been employed as a machinist at Challenge Machine prior to his retirement in 1987. “Dick” was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, VFW Post #446 and DAV Post # 11. He was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Dick was involved with the Veteran’s Service Center of Muskegon, loved his woodworking shop and wood-carving, Wednesday afternoon Euchre games, hunting, fishing and outdoor sports. He was also an avid reader, reading anything he could get his hands on. On August 31, 1946 he married the former Bernice Gurecki in Lansing, MI; and she survives him along with 3 children, David W. Sebring of St. Cloud, FL, James R. (Carmen) Sebring of Muskegon and Patricia A. (John) Collinge of Fruitport; 6 grandchildren, Christopher (Kelly) Buys, Nicholas (Brandy) Buys, Rachael (Phil) Chester, Andrea Sebring, Jennifer (Mike) Jones and Stephanie (Mark) Schultz; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Katheryn DiNardi of Parma, OH; 2 sisters-in-law, Victoria Sturm and Dorothy Gurecki and by several nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Virginia Lawson. A SCRIPTURE SERVICE will be held 1PM Monday, March 7, 2011 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon,MI 49442 (231-726-5210)with Rev. Fr. G. Fredrick Brucker officiating. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Mausoleum. VISITATION with Wayne’s family will be one-hour prior to the service. For a more lasting memorial you are asked to consider the American Cancer Society or Wayne’s family.
