Wesley Franklin Brooks' Obituary
Mr. Wesley Franklin Brooks, Jr., age 73, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015 in Whitehall. He served his country in the US Marine Corp and had been a truck driver for 20 years. On August 28, 1970 he married the former Geneva W. Eschman. Wes was an avid traveler and had been to 48 states and Canada. He attended Shiloh Tabernacle Church, liked to golf, bowl and loved to play baseball which he did, on and off, until he was 50. He is survived by Geneva, his wife of 45 years; his children, Penny Benson of Washington and Wesley B. Brooks of Montague; 7 grandsons; 9 great-grandchildren; his dear sister, Judy Livingston; many nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends, Bud and Mary Swanson. Wes was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and Thomas W. Matthews Sr.; daughter, Darlene Lee; brother, Thomas W. Matthews, Jr.; and brothers-in-law, Don Livingston, Bill, Elmer and Ron Eschman. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210 with Pastor Verne Wright officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Tuesday. Burial at Restlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
