Wesley Galant's Obituary
Mr. Wesley Galant, age 84, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at a local nursing home. He was born March 5, 1922 in Muskegon to John and Sophie (Swiatek) Galant. On April 14, 1947 he married the former Eleanor F. Spytma in South Bend, Indiana. He had been employed at Michigan Consolidated Gas Company, having retired in 1983 after 25 years. Mr. Galant had been a Marine serving in World War II. He had fought in Tarawa, Gilbert Islands, Saipan, Marianas Islands, at Tinian, Marianas Islands, and at Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands. He was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Ravenna, Polish Union, Pulaski Lodge, and a life member of VFW Post 3195. Mr. Galant was also a great fisherman and hunter. SURVIVORS include his wife, Eleanor of 59 years; 1 son, Brent Galant of Grand Rapids, MI; and a sister, Helen Blaschke of Muskegon. He was preceded in death by a son Wesley Galant, Jr. in 1989; 3 brothers, and 2 sisters. FUNERAL LITURGY will be held 11:00 AM Friday at The Walburn Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc.1547 W. Sherman Bvld. 231-759-8565. With Rev. Fr. John Porter presiding. VISITATION with Mr. Galant’s family will be 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home with a ROSARY being prayed at 8:00 PM. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. INTERMENT will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
