Wesley E. VanDam's Obituary
Mr. Wesley E. “Wes” VanDam, age 87, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at his home with his wife at his side. He was born on December 24, 1929 in Muskegon to Eldred and Lydia (Klug) VanDam, and resided in the area all of his life. Wes was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and after being honorably discharged, he married Beatrice Groves in March of 1955, she preceded him in death in April of 1975. Wes worked at Dresser for 38 years prior to retirement. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Muskegon, where he belonged to the Men’s Club and served as custodian for 8 years. Wes enjoyed fishing for the church fish fry with his Uncle Ervin Klug, and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. On May 31, 1980, he married the former Ruth Ann Middlecamp, and she survives him along with seven children, Jack (Vicki) VanDam of Florida, Greg (Nathalie) VanDam of Muskegon, Terry (Gary) Berson of Cloverville, MI, Michael (Cherie) VanDam of Muskegon, Steve (Deborah) VanDam of Florida, Rebecca (Bill) Boss of Muskegon and Darnell (Kim) Hutchinson also of Muskegon; thirteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three brothers, Ron (Joan) VanDam of Indiana, Gary (Rosalie) VanDam of Hilton Head, SC, Dave (Debbie) VanDam of Muskegon Hts.; sister, Pamela Hall of Muskegon and several nieces and nephews. Wes was also preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Jim VanDam. FUNERAL SERVICES will be 11 AM Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church (3225 Roosevelt Rd. Muskegon) with Pastor Paul Appold officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 3-6 PM Sunday at The Lee Chapel 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100, and 1 hour prior to the service at church, from 10-11AM. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spectrum Hospice of Grand Rapids or Trinity Lutheran Church.
