Mr. Wesley Carl Wiethoff's Obituary
Mr. Wesley Carl Wiethoff, age 86, passed away Saturday afternoon, June 1, 2013, peacefully, surrounded by his family. He was born May 31, 1927, in Detroit to Frank and Vera Wiethoff. On September 15, 1951, Wes married the former Dorothy Hamilton in Detroit. Dorothy preceded him in death on December 4, 1998. On October 2, 2004, he married the former Connie Jean Rettinhouse in Whitehall and she preceded him in death on May 23, 2012. Wes served his country in the United States Army during WWll. He spent 28 years with Alcoa, retiring in 1989. In retirement, he enjoyed working at the Old Channel Trail Golf Course. Wesley was a longtime member of Lebanon Lutheran Church, where he had been part of the singing choir, and bell choir. He was part of the Camarata singers, White Lake Chorale, Muskegon Chamber Choir, and was a bass singer in several quartets. Wes loved participating in the adopt-a-reader program through Reeths-Puffer Schools. He enjoyed and supported the West Michigan Symphony. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing and spending time with his family. Wes is survived by his children, Sandy (Steve) DeVries of N. Muskegon, Jason (Cheryl) Wiethoff of Colorado, Cheri (Curt) Crouch of N. Muskegon, and Kathy Peavler of Montague; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 4:00 PM, Friday, June 14, 2013 at Lebanon Lutheran Church, 1101 S. Mears Ave. in Whitehall, with Rev. Doug Ogden officiating. Interment will be made in Oak Grove Cemetery with Full Military Rites under the auspices of the Whitehall American Legion Post #69. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to the Lebanon Lutheran Church.
