Wilber H. "Pete" Sieffert's Obituary
Mr. Wilber H. “ Pete “ Sieffert Jr., age 93, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the Poppen residence. He was born in Traverse City, Michigan to Wilber and Anna (Chandler) Sieffert, Sr. Pete was a U.S. Navy veteran stationed at Pearl Harbor and was always very proud of his service. On July 4, 1943, Wilber married the former Shirley Bushaw in Arizona. He was a machinist at Sealed Power for 34 years until retiring in 1988. Wilber and Shirley lived in the Muskegon area for over 66 years and were longtime devoted members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He also was a Eucharistic minister. Pete was a 12 year volunteer of the Silversides Submarine repair team, a member of DeColores #1, a longtime member of the Rusty Nails Group and a 15 year clowning career as “Polka-dot-Pete”. He loved being with his family and they always came first. SURVIVORS: children, Thomas (Loretta) Sieffert, Carol “Cookie” (Bruce) Sabin, Linda Clark, George Sieffert, Anne Marie Sieffert and Paula (John) Stauffer; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Wilber was preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 73 years, Shirley and his 3 sisters, Helen Graves, Betty Wallace and Dorothy Gordon. The MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated at 11 A.M. Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Antony Britto presiding. VISITATION will be held at church one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be directed to Harbor Hospice-Poppen Residence or Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
