Wilbur A. "Bill" Simmons' Obituary
Wilbur A. “Bill” Simmons, age 85, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at the Poppen Residence. He was born on January 20, 1935 to Robert and Teressa (McCoy) Simmons in Shelby, MI. Bill was a member of Fellowship Church and attended at times Fifth Reformed Church. He served his country in the US Army. Prior to 1995, Bill worked as a truck driver for A&C Carrier hauling petroleum. Bill always had a joke for anyone, was willing to help anybody with anything, he also enjoyed golfing, traveling and spent the last 20 years wintering in Texas with his beloved wife. On October 24, 1964 he married, Hermina Winter and she survives him along with 4 children, Jeff (Robin) Simmons, Steve (Judy) Simmons, Teresa (Shelly) Schooley and Mark (Shelly) Simmons; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters and 2 brothers. A MEMORIAL SERVICE with Military Rites will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Fifth Reformed Church (2330 Holton Rd.) with Pastor Scott VanArendonk and Pastor Greg VanderMeer co-officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service at church. Bill's family request everyone attending to wear appropriate Covid-19 face-masks.
