Wilfred "Bill" Dykstra, Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Wilfred “Bill” Dykstra, Sr., age 88, died Wednesday evening, August 23, 2006, at his home. He was born August 13, 1918 in Spring Lake, MI. to Cornelius and Ethyl (Cook) Dykstra, and has been a resident of the Muskegon area for most of his life. He was a US Navy WWII veteran, and had been employed at Teledyne Continental Motors for 34 years prior to his retirement in 1976. He attended Community United Methodist Church. On May 17, 1941 he married Elvira Butterfield and she survives him along with 3 children, Wilfred “Bill” (Sonja) Dykstra, Jr. of Fremont, Larry (Rita) Dykstra of North Muskegon and Deborah Burch of Whitehall; 5 grandchildren; Matt (Nathalie) Dykstra, Dawn Dykstra, Heather Balcom, Allison Balcom and Clayton Burch; 4 great grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; Roxanne (James) Rusco, Torger Johnson, Douglas (Tanya) Bolles, Jodi (Dennis) Metcalf, Daniel (Kimberly) Bolles and Jeffery Rowe; 11 step–great grandchildren; 1 sister, Irene Fast of Florida and several nieces and nephews among whom is a special niece, Donna (John) Hill of California. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Lynn Dykstra in 1943; grandson David Royal Dykstra, in 1989; 3 brothers, Mike, Chuck and Donald Dykstra;1 sister, Dorothy Dykstra. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Monday, August 28, 2006 at Community United Methodist Church with Pastor Robert Lynch officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. MEMORIALS to Community United Methodist Church or Harbor Hospice will be appreciated. Arrangements by Sytsema Funeral Home, 737 E.
