Mr. Willard "Capt. Ed" Baessler's Obituary
Mr. Willard Edwin Baessler, age 65, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013. He was born January 2, 1948 to Edwin and Lucille (Jones) Baessler in Muskegon, and lived most of his life here. He was a US Navy Veteran and served three tours in Vietnam. Ed was also a member of the VFW Post #3256 in Montague. Ed was also a Free Mason, a member of the Mona Lake Boating Club, the American Karate Club, and was a retired Charter Boat Captain of his boat “Reel Crazy”. Prior to his retirement Ed worked at CWC, Mercy Hospital, and N. Ottawa Community Hospital. On July 8, 1978 he married Lauri J. Buell, and she survives him along with their one son, Gavin (Joni Huttema) Baessler of Grand Rapids; 1 sister, Shirley (Wayne) Dennis of Shelby; 1 brother, Delbert R. Baessler; his two brothers-in-law, Jeff (Ruth) Buell & Scott Buell; his sister-in-law, Tracy (Robert) VanGeison; and many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his faithful dog, Hondo.
