Willard "Bill" Wierengo's Obituary
Mr. Willard Wierengo, age 98, passed away Thursday evening, June 10, 2010 in Muskegon. He was born October 29, 1911 in Muskegon to Gerritt and Grace (Dykema) Wierengo and had been a life resident of the area. Mr. Wierengo was employed at J.S. Anderson Meat Packing Co. as a butcher for 28 years, retiring in 1974. Following his retirement, he continued to work part-time for Punches Food Market and Hazekamp’s Meats. Bill loved to go hunting and spend time at his cabin in Kalkaska. On June 26, 1937 he married the former Margaret Maxine Lane and she preceded him in death on December 26, 2003. He was also preceded in death by 4 brothers, Henry, George, John and Edward Wierengo and by 3 sisters, Martha Herman, Jeannette DeWall and Katherine Wolffis. He is survived by his 3 children, Joyce E. (F.William “Bill”) Krepps of Ravenna, Max D. (Jean) Wierengo of Muskegon and Ruth Ann (Ronald) Gillard of Ravenna, 7 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Grace (John) Zandstra of Muskegon, Alberta Mellema of Norton Shores; 1 sister-in-law, Henrietta Wierengo of Grand Haven and by several nieces and nephews. The FUNERAL SERVICE for Mr. Wierengo will be held 11 AM Monday at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442 (231-726-5210)with the Rev. James Bos officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION with Bill’s family will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Sunday.
