William "Bill" H. VanDop's Obituary
Mr. William “Bill” H. Van Dop, age 75, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Poppen Residence. Bill was born on January 16, 1939 to Abe and Minnie (TenBrink) Van Dop in Muskegon. Bill was a devoted husband and father and a lifelong member of Spring Lake Christian Reformed Church. He loved church, camping, cycling, snowmobiling and traveling with his family. On October 10, 1958 he married, Carol Calkins in Spring Lake. SURVIVORS include wife, Carol of 55 years; son, Mark (Beth) of Arizona; daughters Jill Van Dop and Lori (Dennis) VanderLaan; grandchildren, Jacob Cook (Melissa), Ryan Cook, Molly and Maggie Van Dop, and Lucas and Leah VanderLaan; great-grandson Dylan Cook; sisters, Jean (Steve) Karrell and Lois Heirholzer of Florida. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shirley VanWoerkom and grandson, Nicolas Cook. FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Spring Lake Christian Reformed Church. (364 South Lake Ave.) with Pastor Drew Sweetman officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 6-8 PM on Friday at The Lee Chapel 6291 S. Harvey 231-798-1100 MEMORIALS can be directed to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund or the Spring Lake CRC Outreach Fund. Burial will take place at Spring Lake Cemetery.
