Mr William Byron Butterfield's Obituary
Mr. William Byron Butterfield, age 83, of Muskegon Michigan passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the Harbor Hospice Poppen House Residence in Muskegon. William was born on February 13, 1933 in Muskegon to Edwin and Nora (Reisburg) Butterfield. On May 31, 1980, he married the former Alice (Nixon) Lockhart and she survives him. Bill worked as a millwright for 45 years at Shaw Walker prior to his retirement in 1995. He enjoyed woodworking and he built the family cabin in Manistee MI, where he loved to watch nature and was known as the “deer camp cook”. Bill was an avid Red Wing hockey fan and fond of John Deere tractors. He cherished watching his grandchildren grow and most recently playing with his great-grandchildren. Bill was also a member of the Muskegon Eagles Club. Bill will be deeply missed by his wife Alice of 36 years; children, Maxine (Roy) Coomer, Diana Kieft, Sandra (Mike) Blackmer, Sally (Rick) Piper, William (Rhonda) Butterfield, and Kimberly Mylenek; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Donald (LaWain) Butterfield; sisters, Catherine Butterfield, Thelma (Dan) Wolf, Myrna Spleidt, Norene Ackerman, and Caren (Herb) Kile and several nieces and nephews. Bill is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Maxine Butterfield; brother, Jack Butterfield. A Memorial service will be held for William at 11:00 AM on Friday December 30, 2016 with visitation one hour prior at Community United Methodist Church, 1614 Ruddiman Dr, with Pastor Phil Friedrick presiding. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 5:30 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 29 at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to Harbor Hospice.
