Mr. William Harold Detamore, Jr.'s Obituary
William Harold Detamore, Jr., age 88, died Wednesday afternoon, October 24, 2012, at his home. He was born June 24, 1924 in Detroit to William H. and Mary Josephine (Rice) Detamore, Sr.; and had resided in the Muskegon area since 1939. Bill was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and was the recipient of The American Theater Service Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal, the Philippine Liberation Medal with one Bronze Star and the Good Conduct Medal. Bill had been a meter-reader for Consumer’s Power Co for 38 years, prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, VFW Post #446, American Legion Post #9, Catholic War Veteran’s Post #843 and was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Lodge #706. Bill enjoyed golfing, bowling and volunteering for the American Red Cross. On July 19, 1947 he married the former Alice “Loretta” Schultz and she preceded him in death on October 14, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Claire Detamore. SURVIVORS include 6 children, Diane Janusch of Grand Haven, Thomas W. (Melva) Detamore, Michael J. Detamore, Richard J. (Michele) Detamore, Mary Beth (Raul) Saldana and David P. Detamore, all of Muskegon; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 2 brothers, Robert (Shirley) Detamore of Muskegon; Gerald (Paula) Detamore if Terra Haute, IN; 2 sisters, Mary Jo Grimm of Twin Lake and Elaine (Gary) Stromp of Grand Haven. The MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, October 29, 2012 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church (1716 Sixth St.) with the Rev. Fr. Philip P. Salmonowicz presiding. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION with Bill’s family will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday at
