William Scott Doolittle's Obituary
Mr. William Scott Doolittle, age 68, of Spring Lake, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025. He was born in East Grand Rapids, Michigan on April 17, 1957 to Burling and Marilyn (Gamble) Doolittle. Bill graduated from Michigan State University and built a varied career throughout his life. He worked as a stockbroker for Shearson Lehman, spent time landscaping with Zelenka Farms and Landscape Design, and most recently, and most fondly, served as a school bus driver for Grand Haven Public Schools until his retirement in 2023. Bill had a deep love of God, the Grand Haven community, and the natural beauty of West Michigan. An avid reader, he could often be found walking miles along the bike paths of Spring Lake, hiking lakeshore trails, or enjoying the outdoors on his dirt bike or jet ski. On March 12, 2005, Bill married the former Kyle Megan Rancourt in Spring Lake and she survives him along with two step-daughters, Samantha (Hunter) Christenson and Amanda (Abram) Jensen; two grandchildren, Bennett and Ella; and three siblings, Gregg (Rawda) Doolittle, Deborah (Paul) Arndt, and Dana (William) Hebert. A GRAVESIDE SERVICE will be held at 12:15PM Friday, January 2, 2026 at Spring Lake Cemetery followed by a MEMORIAL OPEN HOUSE from 1-3 PM at The Lilley Mansion Bed and Breakfast, 113 S. Division St., Spring Lake, Michigan 49456. Arrangements by The Spring Lake Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 213 E. Savidge St., Spring Lake, Michigan 49456.
