William J. "Bill" Goryl's Obituary
Willam J. “Bill” Goryl, age 91, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 13, 2025 surrounded by family. Bill was born April 17, 1933 in Muskegon to Joseph and Helen Mae (Ostling) Goryl and lived in the area most of his life. Bill was a proud veteran of the US Air Force and served during the Korean War. On July 13, 1957, he married Donna Cuti. Prior to retirement Bill worked in the finance and Industrial Sales fields. After he retired, he worked as a driver for the VA recruitment center. Bill was a member of St Francis de Sales Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #706. He was also a member of the Muskegon American Legion. Bill is remembered by many in West Michigan who were mentored by him during his years of coaching youth sports. He had a great sense of humor and was a very engaged husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Bill was intelligent as well as a talented handyman and will be remembered by many who benefited from his knowledge and skills. Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Donna M. Goryl; 5 children, Tamura Oberle, Joe (Kim) Goryl, Jill (Ted) Perkins, Vince Goryl, Michelle (Jeff) Schaefer; 11 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Jerry Goryl, Shirlee Glozer, and Joni Bakke. Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Thursday May 8, 2025 at St Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 2929 McCracken St, Norton Shores, MI. 49441 with Military Honors offered by the Muskegon County Council of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Honor Detail from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base followed by a luncheon at the church. Visitation will be held one hour prior of the Mass at the church (10:00 - 11:00 am Thursday). A private entombment will take place at St Mary’s Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be directed to The Knights of Columbus #706.
