Mr. William J. "Bill" Hentschel's Obituary
Mr. William J. “Bill” Hentschel, age 74, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather, passed away Wednesday morning, December 18, 2013. He was born August 8, 1939 in Muskegon to William Lee and Eloise (Miner) Hentschel. Bill was a graduate of Ferris State University where he earned his Bachelors in Business Administration and Marketing. Mr. Hentschel had owned and operated the Laketon Gas and Grocery for 10 years and the Holton Stop and Shop for 8 years. His last place of employment was at the Petro Pantry (Marathon Station) in North Muskegon, where he had worked 25 years before reluctantly retiring this year. He attended Spring Lake Wesleyan Church and was a member of the Muskegon Elks Lodge #274, where he had been a life guard for many years at the Elks Park. Bill had a wonderful sense of humor, was kind and generous, enjoyed camp fires, sun worshiping and Lake Michigan, but most of all, he loved his family. On May 21, 1976 he married the former Nancy K. Bartrand in Muskegon and she survives him along with 3 sons, David (Christi) Fortenbacher, Todd (Diane) Fortenbacher, Paul (Gretchen) Jacobson; 8 grandchildren, Lindsey (Kurt), Kati (Jeff), Zach, Rachel, Derek, Jennifer, Jamie, and Taylor; 3 great-grandchildren, Berkley, Dawson, Cooper, and a great-granddaughter that is due in February; brother-in-law, Jack Bartrand; 3 sisters-in-law, Sandy (Marvin) Morris, Diane Weberg, Rosemary (John) Delis; and his faithful companion, his dog “Bennie”. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Jerri Kay Jacobson. A MEMORIAL VISITATION will be held from 3-6 PM Saturday, December 21, 2013, at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S.
