William Gerald Kuerth, Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. William Gerald Kuerth, Jr., age 85, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 at his home in Muskegon. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 25, 1930 to William G. and Josephine (Eisenbeis) Kuerth, Sr. and was raised in Honor, Michigan on the family farm. Bill was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War. On July 7, 1956, he married the former Elsie Marie Fortine in Honor, Michigan and they raised their family in Muskegon. For 40 years, Bill would do landscaping and gardening for four hours each morning before going to work at Shaw Walker, where he retired from in 1990. After his retirement, he went to work for his son at Kuerth Disposal, retiring just this past March. Bill was a dedicated and hard worker. In the little free time he had, he enjoyed deer hunting, assembling models, and refurbishing and painting farm equipment. Although they moved away from Honor, Bill still loved it there, and enjoyed spending most weekends with his wife and children at the family cabin. He is survived by his wife, Elsie; two children, Wayne (Cindy) Kuerth and Linda (Richard) Hartman; six grandchildren, Joe (Tina), Jacquie (Nick), Jennifer (Vera), Brett (Danielle), Cari, Aaron (Jennifer); 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Bernard Kuerth and one sister, Joanne (Fred) Link. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with Rev. Gerald Hagans officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to his service. Burial will be in Champion Hill Cemetery, Honor, Michigan.
