William Norton Leiter Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. William Norton Leiter, Jr., age 63, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012 at home. He was born May 20, 1948 in Muskegon to William,Sr. and Hazel Ruth (Wenk) Leiter. Bill was a 1966 graduate of Mona Shores High School and received his Bachelor degree in business from Western Michigan University. He served in the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne during the Vietnam war. He had owned and operated Durango Plastics, Inc. until his retirement. Bill was a lifetime member of the Mona Lake Boating Club, a life member of AMVETS, past commander of the Lakeside Veteran’s Club and held memberships in the Vikings Linne’ Lodge #57 and American Legion Post 185. He is survived by 3 children, William N. Leiter III and Joseph E. Leiter of Wyoming, MI and Carrie J. Leiter of St. Louis, MO; 2 grandchildren, Noah Mast and Skyelar VanKoevering; his mother, Hazel Ruth Leiter of Muskegon; 2 brothers, Lee (Judy) Leiter and Wes (Valerie) Leiter both of Muskegon and his former wife, Kim V. Leiter of Grand Rapids, MI. He was preceded in death by his father, William N. Leiter, Sr. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held Monday, March 19, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100, Rev. Thomas Siefert officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service. Military rites will be held under the auspices of Muskegon County Council of Veterans. Memorial contributions to Disabled American Veterans will be appreciated.
