William Malda's Obituary
Mr. William Malda, age 96, went to be with his Heavenly Father, Saturday morning, November 9, 2019, at The Poppen Residence. Bill was born December 19, 1922 in Rothbury, MI; and has resided in the Muskegon area since 1948. Bill was a U.S. Army - World War II veteran; and was a Purple Heart recipient for wounds received at St. Lo, France. He served from January 1, 1943 through December 8, 1945. Upon his discharge, Bill became a masonry contractor with his brother Ben, from 1947 - 1987. On October 20, 1948 he married the former Cornelia "Connie" Rop; and she preceded him in death on March 1, 2010. Bill was a former member of First Christian Reformed Church; and now of Grace Christian Reformed Church. He was also a member of Wood-Tazelaar D.A.V.- Chapter 11. SURVIVORS include 4 children, Sharon DeWall of Muskegon, Bob (Ruthie) Malda of Zeeland, Dan (Barb) Malda of Middleville and Jim (Barb) Malda of Muskegon; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Ben Malda of New Era; sister, Betty Hewitt of Muskegon; sister-in-law, Dena Malda of Muskegon and by many nieces and nephews. Bill was also preceded in death by his brother, John and sister Helen, sister-in-law Ruth, and brother-in-law Bill Hewitt; and son-in-law Phil DeWall. FUNERAL SERVICES will be held 11AM Thursday, November 14, 2019 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444, 231-798-1100. VISITATION with Bill's family will be 4-7PM Wednesday . Interment will follow in Restlawn Cemetery.
