William Thomas Mitchell's Obituary
Our beloved father, William Thomas Mitchell, (70), passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023, at home. He was born June 11, 1952, in Ann Arbor, MI to Eugene Thomas and Marieta Jean (Morningstar) Mitchell.
Raised in Ypsilanti, MI to a devout Christian family, household of 6. Had an interest early on for reading, karate, car racing and music. He learned to play guitar and was in a couple of bands in high school, playing lead electric guitar and vocals. His passion for music led him to his love of live entertainment. Working at several concerts, supplying his knowledge of sound and stage management to many well-known acts. William served his country with the Navy as a petty officer 2nd class in the latter years of the Vietnam war. Stationed in Pensacola, FL, on the aircraft carrier USS Lexington gave him more of a working knowledge of electronics. He graduated from the University of Florida with a B.E.E. He is lovingly remembered as having a wonderful sense of humor, a sharp wit, a love of science-fiction, cats, and a big, big heart.
He is survived by his significant other, Debra Glockzin; daughter Alexandra (Ron Johnson) Mitchell; son William (Darcie Beekman) Mitchell III; three sisters, Marlene (Liljana Severkovski) Mitchell, Cynthia Plowman, and Mary Mitchell; his brother, Paul (Kathy) Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service for William will be held at 3:00pm. on Monday, January 30, 2023, at Grace Assembly of God with Pastor Casey Arnouts officiating. 2956 E. Pontaluna Rd, Fruitport Mi, 49415.
