I have many fond memories of Bill at MCC, but my favorite is our first encounter. I was new to the MCC choir and didn’t know anyone. We attended a local choir conference on my birthday, and afterward our choir went out to eat at a buffet. I sat down alone. When Bill noticed this, he picked up his plate from another group and sat with me. We talked for most of the meal. After he found out that it was my birthday, he got up and talked to his previous table for a minute. He sat back down with me, then started to sing Happy Birthday. Everyone surrounding us joined in. It was a beautiful moment, and I will remember Bill’s kindness and consideration forever.
