William J. "Bill" Pachesny's Obituary
William J. “Bill” Pachesny, age 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Hallstrom Castle in Twin Lake, MI. Bill was born on January 9, 1945 to Clement and Evelyn (Bosch) Pachesny in Muskegon, and was a lifelong resident of the area. He attended St. Michael Catholic Elementary School and graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central High School in 1962. Bill attended Muskegon Community College and went on to the Don Martin School of Radio and Television Arts & Science in Hollywood, CA. Bill received his First Class Radio Telephone Operator License from the Federal Communications Commission in January 1975 and a valid lifetime license in January 1985. He was known as the “Sunday Man” on WKBZ Radio while also working at Pachesny Funeral Home – founded by his father, Clem Pachesny. Bill also worked for a short time with Balbernie-Apostle Mortuary and served as a letter carrier for the Muskegon Post Office. He retired from the Muskegon Public Schools as a healthcare worker in 2008. Bill was an avid sports fan for Muskegon Catholic Central and Notre Dame Football! He enjoyed all the casino bus trips to Little River and Soaring Eagle, especially, the many airplane rides to the “Gambling Mecca” Las Vegas. Bill leaves a sister, Carol (Tom) Maring; cousins; a dearly loved first-cousin, Cindy VanderLeest, and a special friend and wonderful cook, Mary Ann Scofield. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, June 9, 2022 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (1715 Sixth St.) with Rev. Charles D. Hall presiding. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Memorial Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Muskegon Catholic Education Foundation or Hospice of Michigan.
