William R. Playter's Obituary
On Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at 4:42 p.m. William “Bill” Robert Playter at the age of 99 entered into the most beautiful garden that his eyes have ever beheld. The peace, the colors, the birds, the angels, and his Savior, we can only imagine. Bill had one of the most beautiful array of flowers and garden in all of Muskegon County. He tended to those gardens until the very end. Heaven has a new gardener. Bill retired from Continental Motors in 1982 as an APP Laboratory Tech. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served on the U.S.S. Battleship Kearny. He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Buryll Jane (Balcom) and his son, William George. He leaves two daughters, Carol Ann (Craig, who was more of a son than son-in-law) Bond and Linda Sue (Lester) Woodland; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Per Bill’s wishes, no services will be held and cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be directed to Wounded Warrior Project in honor of Bill (https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate). Arrangements by The Sytsema Chapel, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442. Please share a memory with the family online at www.sytsemafh.com.
