William "Mark" Simmons' Obituary
William “Mark” Simmons, age 59, passed away unexpectedly in Muskegon, MI on May 13, 2025. Mark was born in Muskegon to Wilbur and Hermina (Winters) Simmons on September 21, 1965. He graduated from Orchard View High School and went on to receive his bachelor's degree from Spring Arbor University. Mark worked as a pilot for some years, and he also owned Brutus’ BBQ for many years. He loved taking care of his yard and garden and going for a drive with no clear destination. His greatest passion was cooking, especially barbecuing and smoking different foods. He was proud to have catered for many different events over the years, including festivals, weddings, and graduation parties. He showed love to others through food and always took great joy in cooking for his family over the holidays.
Mark will be lovingly remembered by Shelly Simmons; two stepdaughters: Brooke Dougan and Ashlei Uplinger; four grandchildren: Anavian, Jabez, Amaris, and Analia; sister, Teresa (Shelly) Schooley; half-brother, Steve (Judy) Simmons; half-sister in-law, Robin Simmons; and two beloved dogs, Wyatt and Abby. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Hermina Simmons, and his half-brother Jeff Simmons.
