William "Bill" C. Sklenar's Obituary
William “Bill” C. Sklenar, age 85, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019. He was born November 4, 1933 in Muskegon Heights, MI to Michael and Catherine (Vasko) Sklenar and was a life resident. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard and served 1950-55. On July 15, 1961, he married Dorothy Rebone in Muskegon and she survives him. He retired from Lift-Tech after working 49 years as a machinist. Bill was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling, photography, picnics and gatherings with his family and he loved working in his yard and garden. He was Dort’s “Billy Boy” and a loving and caring husband. Their love story will be told to our families for generations to come. His faith was his strength and his family his pride and joy. His commitment to do the right thing will be our forever example. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Sklenar; 7 children, Debra (Bill) Rowan, Patricia (Steve) Siembida, Kenneth Sklenar, Randy (Nan) Sklenar, Diane (Fred) van Hartesveldt, Steve (Jill) Sklenar, Joe (Maribeth) Sklenar; 21 grandchildren, Joel (Beth) Portincasa, Chris (Angela) Portincasa, Lauren (Phil) Bredberg, Scott (Jen) Siembida, Scott (Heidi) Doza, Paul (Susan) Siembida, Laura (Jeff) Miller, Sarah (Nick) Garner, Alicia (Bryan) McKinney, David Jeffers, Allison Jeffers, Noah van Hartesveldt, Catalina van Hartesveldt, Nathan Sklenar, Brandon Sklenar, Jason Sklenar, Amy Sklenar, Megan (Tyler) Anderson, Lee Sklenar, Abby Sklenar, Jackson Sklenar; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Edward (Carol) Sklenar; 1 sister, Martha Sklenar; 3 sisters-in-law, Theresa (George) Doppel, Barbara Johnson, Sheila Rebone; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 1 grandson, Eric Doza; 2 sisters at birth, Katy and Maria Sklenar; 1 brother, Bob Sklenar; 1 sister-in-law, Betsy Sklenar; and 2 brothers-in-law, Albert Rebone and Harold Johnson; 1 niece, Debora DuRocher; and family friend, Joseph Zagaroli. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church (2929 McCracken St.) with Fr. Charles D. Hall presiding. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Tuesday at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., (231) 759-8565 with a Scripture Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to Mass, 10-11 AM Wednesday at the church. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
