William E. Smith Sr.'s Obituary
William “Bill” E. Smith, Sr., age 80, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2020 at his home. He was born September 4, 1939 in Saginaw, MI to Theodore and Betty (Gave) Smith and lived in the area since 1970. On December 8, 1973, he married Cheryl L. Rainbolt in Muskegon and she survives him. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Bill worked at CWC and Westrand before retiring in 2005. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Bill enjoyed the outdoors – especially hunting and fishing at his cabin. He also enjoyed camping. He was a fan of the Tigers, Spartans and Lions sports. Survivors include his loving wife, Cheryl L. Smith; 3 sons, Darwin (Marylou) Smith, Michael Smith, William Smith, Jr., 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Grayson Lund; his parents; 2 sisters, Nancy Lambert and Joanne Horn-Smith. A Funeral Service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, August 1, 2020 outside at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444 with Pastor Bob Bierenga officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place 10:00 AM Monday, August 3, 2020 at Sunrise Memorial Gardens (2188 Remembrance Drive) with Military Honors offered by the Muskegon County Council of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
