His camp has helped so many young students learn and grow in the fine arts! ♥️ Condolences to his family.
He was an incredible mentor and passionate director who cared for his students like they were his children. I was in his International Youth Symphony Orchestra from 1994-1998. I loved traveling with Fritz and Gretchen. Some of my favorite memories were playing From Canterbury Lane- the Blue Lake theme written by his grandfather. I also loved singing the Lord Bless You and Keep You with our group at every performance. He inspired many.
I remember Fritz conducting an early rehearsal of our international band in the 1970s and exciting the ensemble like a jockey on a horse that had never broken a trot. It was instructive, exhilarating, humbling - and unforgettable - all at once.
