William C. "Bill" VanderSlute's Obituary
William C. “Bill” VanderSlute, age 77, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away surrounded by his family Wednesday, March 7, 2018. He was born December 26, 1940 in Muskegon to Lloyd and Jeanette (Karel) VanderSlute. Bill was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and had worked for CWC Textron. On September 15, 1962, he married the love of his life the former Hazel Barnes in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on February 25, 2002. Bill was a hard worker and would often work two jobs in order to provide and take care of his family. He enjoyed doing puzzles and had a wonderful sense of humor. SURVIVORS include 3 children: Christopher (Lillian) VanderSlute, Angela (Joe) Coonrod, Terra (Donald) Morrow; 5 grandchildren: his biological granddaughter Holly, Andrew (Nicki), Cody, Joey, and Melissa, and; 4 great-grandchildren: Aaron, Kaleb, and Hailey Short, and Jayce Stambaugh; brother, Jim (Sue) VanderSlute; brothers-in-law (like brothers to him): Tom (Sandy) Barnes, and Ron (Barb) Barnes; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Frank (Marlene) VanderSlute; 4 sisters: Joan (Ken) Dexter, Doris (Ray) Arbo, Janet (Bill) Schugars, and Betty (Larry) England. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service.
