To the Wrase family and friends,

Due to health issues I am sorry I can not be at the visitation or mass to share some of the many many great times Bill and I shared together over the years. I can truly say that Bill was one of my best friends. Our friendship blossomed from our early days at the Muskegon Yacht Club in the 60's to being the first Director on the Board of Directors of the U.S.S. Silversides to the culmination of the US Naval and Memorial Museum as it stands today. Bill's kindness and honesty were just a couple of his attributes that shown through in everything he did. We will all miss him, but we will never forget him as a true officer and a gentleman.

To Bill's children: Thank you for sending the card to let me know of your father's death. My Bill (who passed away almost 2 years ago) and your father were Power Squadron friends. They shared their love of boating and their Naval service in the South Pacific. Your father was a true gentleman. I always enjoyed seeing him and your mother, as well.

Dear Jo Anne,Judy,Jill,Jeanne,and Brian,
Thank you for the card announcing your Dad's passing. Your Dad my "Uncle Bill" was my childhood hero when I was a little kid growing up in Chicago. I have memories of a Navel Officer in World War II and even more exciting for a 5 year old, rides in his convertible with the top down. As an adult, my contact with 'Uncle Bill" over the years was sparse but meaningful. While working in Seattle in 1995 or '96, I got a call from Bill asking if I wanted to have dinner. I hadn't seen him in over 20 years. Your Dad, your Mom, Lois, and I had a wonderful evening talking about family. I have not seen him since, but he is still my hero.

I wish I had really known Uncle Bill;he was so beloved by my mother and his sister, Ruth. I remember when he and Lois and Joanne came to visit the California cousins and we delighted in knowing some of our relatives. Fortunately I had the opportunity to be with him on his own turf when I went to college In the Midwest. He knew how to captain his motor boat making water skiing a breeze. Even though we lived thousands of miles away I knew the if we needed something we could count on Uncle Bill. Wrase Family -

Your father, was a great shipmate and officer on the DE352. I enjoyed seeing him at the reunions - he was "one of the guys", which, of course, as Phil stated below, was one of the highest honors one could have with the Naifeh.

He will be missed by his Naifeh Family. Rest in peace Bill -

Jo Ann,

Your father, Bill Wrase and I served on board the USS Naifeh DE 352, but not at the same time, due to our age difference. I met Bill at our ship reunions. I will always remember him as a gentlemen and a person who listened to you when you talked. He was paid the highest honor by the crew of the Naifeh, when he was considered, "One of the Guys". I'm just sorry that I never had the opportunity to serve under your father, as I would have been in his division.

In closing the USS Naifeh lost a fine officer and a true gentlemen. He will be missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace knowing that he contributed so much, while he walked the earth. Good bye Bill, I'll miss you.

Dear JoAnn,

I'm so sorry for your loss, we are never ready to say the final good-bye. I remember the summer I worked as an office temp and was assigned to your dad's office. I know I was horrible at the job, it was my first secretarial position, but your dad was so sweet, understanding and most of all patient. How lucky for me, that a few years later, I got to meet his wonderful, loving daughter. The apple never falls to far from the tree.
