William "Bill" Priebe, Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. William Priebe, Jr., age 86, died early Thursday morning, July 3, 2008. He was born October 26, 1921 in Muskegon to William and Rose (Jester) Priebe, Sr. and had been a life resident. Mr. Priebe worked for the Amazon Knitting Mills before entering the service. He was a WWII U. S. Army Veteran with the 133rd Infantry serving in New Guinea, the Philippines, and Japan. Following the service, he worked for the City of Muskegon as a meter reader. He then worked for Breneman Hartshorn Inc. in the shipping and stock room for 17 years before retiring. Mr. Priebe was a baptized member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where he had also been an Altar Boy. He was a member of the Muskegon Eagles Aerie #668 for 61 years, and had been a Trustee for 15 years. Mr. Priebe enjoyed playing softball, and played for numerous teams. He also spent 3 years managing the local area Little League teams. On September 28, 1946, he married the former Florence Little in Muskegon and she survives him along with his sister, Delores Priebe of Muskegon; many nieces and nephews; and his dog, “Sassy”. He was preceded in death by 6 brothers, John, Julius, Frank, Thomas, Bernard, and Stanley Priebe; and 2 sisters, Blanche DeHorn and Irene Wilks. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at a later date.
