Mr. William"Bill" P. Sager's Obituary
Mr. William Paul Sager, age 73, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday evening, March 21, 2012, at his home. Bill was born September 21, 1938 to Howard B. and RuthAnn I. (Dexter) Sager. Bill served his country in the US Air Force. After completing his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Arizona State University, he worked 10 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections. He spent the next 20 years working as a unit manager at the Muskegon Correctional Facility prior to his retirement in 2001. Following his retirement, Bill substitute taught at various area schools, and spent summers working at Michigan’s Adventure. On July 23, 1977, he married the former Susan Enos in Coldwater, MI and she survives him. Bill was a member of Community of Christ Church where he was serving as an elder, and had formerly served as a pastor. He enjoyed landscaping, reading westerns, campfires, and spending time with his grandchildren. Bill was a big fan of the Detroit Lions, the Michigan Wolverines, and the Muskegon Big Reds. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a great love for his family and his faith. He will be deeply missed. In addition to his wife, Susan, Bill is survived by his children, Connie Brooks of Kalamazoo, MI, Katy (Steve) Rasic of Twin Lake, Robin Rice of Oak Hill, VA, Kendra (Rich) Szymanski of Howell, MI and Leslee (Tom) Huntley of N. Muskegon; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a brother, Curtis (Joan) Sager of Cheboygan, MI; 2 sisters, Eunice (Wayne) German of Bronson, MI and Edith (David) Bonham of Cheboygan, MI; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Marc; his granddaughter, Samantha; and his sister, Martha Deranek. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00AM Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Community of Christ Church (2671 Ducey St.) with Elder Mari Larson officiating. VISITATION with Bill’s family will be from 2-5 pm Sunday, March 25, 2012 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave. 231 726-5210 and one hour prior to the service (10-11AM) at the church.
