My beloved son, Bill,

It was one year ago today that you left us. Your family , your friends miss you more than ever!
You were the most wonderful son! No mother could ask for more or expect as much love and caring as you gave me.
Your brother, sister and son all have pledged to live their lives by your example! You are an inspiration to us all! Your business company, your concert band,your friends, are still very much missing you.! You left us much to soon but you left a major mark wherever you went in the time given you. Dear Mary Ellen, How long have we know each other? Nearly sixty years when you introduced Cap and Me. In that time we became relatives through marriage and had our children. We got together often with our kids, at our house in the play room, at your Pontiac Yacht Club, and any number of other places. Bill was like one of our children, and we always wanted to hug that adorable little boy. Even then he was a sweet child with a tender heart. Bill followed his dream. He always loved bowling and he made an iremarkable career of it. He married and had a son as blond as he had been. How impressed we all were to see him in Time Magazine extolled for his expertise at Brunswick. But mostly I'll remember his warmth, especially on your visits to us in Florida when we got to know him best as an adult. We still wanted to hug that lovely man. I knew Bill for many years, through Jim Warger of Jim's Pro Shop, Green Brook, NJ (which I currently own). Bill was an absolute genius of bowling ball core and coverstock technology and produced some of the most amazing balls on the market for many, many years. Working with him in testing balls was inspirational and incredible fun. I was shocked and saddened to hear the news about the loss of your son Bill. Tom Moore told me as a group of us gathered at Miniwanca before SSW on Wednesday to discuss the AYF archives. Though I didn't know Bill, his honoring your desire to capture the stories of the early history from Jim Orwig is remarkable. I can remember your gratitude for the MANY hours he spent on the project. And now after immersing myself in the early photos this last year, I want you to know how much so many people will value his efforts and persistence. May the Holy Spirit offer you strength and power to endure such a tragic loss which came way too soon for all. Hoping I will see you on the dunes again soon. It's a great place of solace. Peace be with you mary Ellen I know the sadness of your heart, as I lost a son.
I know you will always look to the positive and cherish the warm lovinng memories. Working on the history of Miniwanca with him was very special and gradifying something you can be very proud of what a neat thing to be able to have done together.
