Mr. William Clay “Bill” Owen, age 91, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2006. Mr. Owen was born April 5, 1914 to Coron and Maie (Rawley) Owen in Wingo, KY. On August 31, 1940 he married the former Marjorie L. Clay in Detroit, MI. Mr. Owen was a baker by trade and owned his own bakery. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Niles, MI. He was also a life member 32ND degree Mason. Bill loved woodworking and enjoyed golf and traveling. He was also quite a practical joker. Bill is SURVIVED by his beloved wife of 65 years, Marjorie Owen; his daughter, Kaye (Bob) Kingsley of Twin Lake; 4 grandchildren, Michael Owen, Kerry (Michael) Stewart, Amy Kingsley and Jason Kingsley; 3 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Estele (Marge) Owen of TX; 2 sisters, Euna Piper of OH and Evelyn Bensett of Sterling Hts., MI; and many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his son, Gary Clay Owen in 1988 and his parents. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, January 21, 2006 at First Baptist Church with Pastor John H. Brown officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service at the church
