William Edward Makary's Obituary
William Edward Makary, age 83 passed away on October 20, 2010 following a long illness. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on June 17, 1927 to Edward and Hilda (Voelker) Makary and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He married the former Ruth N. Gibbon on October 8, 1947; she preceded him in death on September 3, 2006. Mr. Makary was employed as an engineer at Bell of Pennsylvania for 41 years. In Pittsburgh, Mr. Makary was very active in the Hampton Township School Board and Recreation Board. He was a founding member of Parkwood church in Allison Park and was very involved in the church’s growth and activities. Following retirement, Bill and Ruth moved to Peoria, AZ where he was President of the Westbrook Village Homeowners Association. Last August, Bill moved to Spring Lake to be near family. He is survived by one son, Vaughn (Catharine) Makary of Norton Shores, MI, one daughter, Sandra (Geoffrey) Odell of Randolph, NJ, four granddaughters, and 2 great-granddaughters. A memorial service with family and friends will be held later this year in Peoria, AZ. The family requests all donations be made to the Ruth G.
