William F. Barth's Obituary
William F. Barth, age 79, of Spring Lake passed away Thursday, July 31, 2008, at a Muskegon hospital. He was born March 22, 1929, in Kalamazoo, MI, to William and Ella (Steffens) Barth, and he married the former Anita L. Nienhouse on October 13, 1962, in Spring Lake.
Mr. Barth served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He moved to Spring Lake in 1958 where he served as a police officer until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of Spring Lake Presbyterian Church and the F.O.P. He attended the first EMT class at Muskegon Community College and formerly served as the commander of the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post #28 in Grand Haven. He was also well-known for his roles as Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and Breezy the Clown.
Survivors include his loving wife, Anita; his daughter, Kelly (Dan Clark) Barth of Grand Haven; his son, Kevin (Nichole) Barth of Spring Lake; three grandchildren: Cheyanne, Conner, and Chelsea; a sister, Marlene (Jake) Scholten of Ocala, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
The service for Bill will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at Spring Lake Presbyterian Church with Rev. Daniel Anderson officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Military rites will be provided by the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post #28.
