William F. Barth, age 79, of Spring Lake passed away Thursday, July 31, 2008, at a Muskegon hospital. He was born March 22, 1929, in Kalamazoo, MI, to William and Ella (Steffens) Barth, and he married the former Anita L. Nienhouse Read Obituary

He would talk to the "Blue Knight" on the CB and your dad would bother to take the time to give him a ride home if he saw him walking. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Nita, Kevin and Kelly; It is hard to believe that Uncle Bill has passed on. All of you have been such a huge part of our family for so many years (and how fast those years have passed.) My Uncle Bill was a faithful husband, wonderful father and great uncle who was kind, considerate, generous, and patriotic. Growing up in Spring Lake, we ALL knew officer Bill. Now, later in life, I've had the pleasure of visiting with Bill every month when he stopped and checked for proper licenses being displayed where I work. He would ask about my two kids, my brother Tom (a police officer) and I would ask about his grandkids! Boy did his face light up as he would share his stories!

I was 16 years old when I first met Bill at an Advanced First Aid Class. He and Terry Christiansen were two of the coolest individual police officers I have ever had the privilege of knowing. That was 27 yrs ago, but I will always remember the positve impression Bill made on my personal and professional life. Rest in Peace Bill and Peace to the Barth family.

to the family of bill,our hearts go out to you.bill will be missed by a lot of us from the donut shop. the one i remember the most was christmas he came in as santa christopher and amy just had the biggest smile on there face.the storys he told about the night we spent together when we had that bad storm and he had to stay on the main street because a tree was down and i made coffee for all of them ,that had to stay there all night in the rain and gave them a place to get warm and dry off.he always had to tell the kids about that night.he was always there to help and he could always make you smile.always in our hearts.##imported-begin##gary & chris hyde##imported-end##
Wow, it's hard to believe Bill has passed on. Wonderful memories, couple of traffic tickets given to me when I was sixteen while Bill was working for Spring Lake; when I was working with the Ottawa County Sheriff Dept. we expanded our professional relationship.
Playing umpire and coaching with him with the Cub Scouts, what a joy and lot's of laughs.
Paybacks for the two traffic tickets he gave me, came when he needed to take refresher courses at Muskegon Community College Criminal Justice Programs - I was the the person in charge of grades. Along with Terry Christenson, they were the first two in the office worried about the course - they were both excellent officers (it was fun to neddle them a bit)
Anita and family, I could go on with many funny/pleasant stories, Bill was always willing to go byond the limits in helping his fellow man. He will be missed by me and the tri-cities community for his service and genoristy of time.
Unfortunetly, I will be unable to attend the service on Tuesday.
