William G. Smith's Obituary
Mr. William G. Smith, age 78, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2010 at home. He was born March 2, 1932 in Muskegon to N.Z. and Leta (Barhitte) Smith, and resided in the area all of his life. Mr. Smith worked for Teledyne Continental Motors for 39 years, before retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Slovak Hall, Lithuanian Club, Polish Union and Falcon, the Muskegon Heights Eagles, and enjoyed cooking, baking, and fishing in his spare time. Mr. Smith is survived by 8 children, James (Agnes) Smith of Holton, David (Sandy) Smith of Muskegon Heights, Janey (Harry) Williams of Norton Shores, Terry (Charlene) Smith of Tulsa, OK, Greg (Pam) Smith of Dyersburg, TN, Patricia (Dean) King of Woodhaven, MI, Rick (Sherry) Smith of N. Muskegon, William Smith, II of N. Muskegon and son-in-law, Ronald Lawrence; 23 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; former wife, Carol Smith; brother, Kenneth Smith of Hesperia; sisters, Joanne Larson and Tressa Pirrotta both of Muskegon, Norma (Gordon) Knowles of California; ½ brother, Roger (Kay) Smith, Darrell Smith and Gerry (Pam) Smith all of Montague; ½ sisters, Karen Chamberlain, Carolyn Koski and Lynette (Clifford) Burns all of Montague. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Lawrence; and sister, Beverly Smith. The MEMORIAL SERVICE will be 2PM Tuesday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Rev. Dr. Gerald J. Wahr officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service. Memorial Contributions will to the Lakeshore Lung Society will be appreciated.
