William Harold "Bill" Carpenter's Obituary
Mr. William Harold “Bill” Carpenter, age 88, passed away Monday, July 10, 2006. He was born October 12, 1917 in Hesperia to Jesse and Grace (Grimm) Carpenter. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WWII. He married the former Winifred H. Sisson on January 18, 1946 and she preceded him in death on December 1, 1971. He later married the former Ruby M. Draving on March 12, 1980 and she preceded him in death on October 26, 2004. Prior to retirement in 1981, he worked 40 years as a truck driver for Superior Oil Company. He was a member of First Wesleyan Church. SURVIVORS include his caregivers and grandchildren, Gary and Vicky Sowles and their children, Tyler and Becca; his sister, Mary Esther (Ernest) Brock; his children from his first marriage, Joseph (Robin) Carpenter, Linda (Jerry) Phillippe, Debby (Don) Cooley, and Dixie Carrier; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rose Marie Michels and a step-daughter, Lois Koistinen. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, July 13, 2006, at First Wesleyan Church (1040 E. Forest Ave.) with Rev. Richard Bennett officiating. INTERMENT will take place at Fruitland Township Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be directed to First Wesleyan Church.
