William H. "Bill" Schimanski's Obituary
William H. “Bill” Schimanski, age 76, passed away Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Poppen Residence of Harbor Hospice. He was born January 18, 1934 in Cincinnati, OH, to F. Wm. and Helen (Maggini) Schimanski and lived in the Muskegon area most of his life. He married the former Marilyn G. Stross in Cincinnati, and she survives him. Bill received his bachelor’s degree from University of Dayton and did his master’s studies at Michigan State University. He worked for over 40 years as a Mechanical Engineer. He was employed at Brunswick Corp. and retired from General Dynamics. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. SURVIVORS include his wife, Marilyn; 3 children, Mike (Cora) Schimanski of Bath, MI, Jim (Carolann) Schimanski of Cincinnati, OH, and Suzanne (Steve) Schimanski-Gross of Northville, MI; grandchildren, Stephen, Samantha, Paul, Alexander, Peyton, Rory, Hailey, and Erin; and his sister, Suzanne Diehl. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Steve in 1975 and Paul in 1999; and his sister, Mary Jane A’Hearn in 2009. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Philip J. Salmonowicz as celebrant. INTERMENT will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION with Bill’s family will be 4-7 PM Monday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey Street (231) 798-1100. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Paul Schimanski Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o The Community Foundation for Muskegon County, 425 W.
